The political brinkmanship of the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Ramalan Yero, has hit a procedural brick-wall penultimate the plot to change the leadership of the Kaduna State House of Assembly and also impeach its Speaker, Hon. Muazu Usman Gangara.
It was learnt that the impeachment plot was hatched when it was deemed that the Speaker’s refusal to cooperate with the Executive in its bid to misappropriate state funds for other purposes will not augur well for the political ambition of Governor Yero.
So, Yero, the political lad of Vice President Namadi Sambo orchestrated the impeachment with the blessing of his Master, while the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Alh. Sani Sidi acted as the money –bag – man by diverting his agency’s funds for personal agenda.
It was further learnt that Alh. Sidi personally abandoned his work in Abuja and spent five days in Kaduna doling out money and overseeing the project. This is so unfortunate for a man who is supposed to be in charge of emergency situations in the country and that influenced the suspicion that money meant for emergency situations might not have been getting to its intended destination as it should.
Reputable sources within the House said the Leadership were contacted sometimes back on the need to pass a vote of no confidence on all the 23 Local Council Chairmen, abrogate the current Local Government Law, enact a new one with a three-year tenure, sacks all the chairmen and replace them with Yero’s men as administrators, pending when Yero will conduct his own local Government election.
It was said that their offences stems from their unwillingness to cooperate with the executive in terms of deduction from local council funds and their, sometimes, public admiration of late Yakowa’s decent management of their affairs.
Unfortunately for Namadi and his boys, the current Leadership of the house vehemently declined being part of the impeachment scheme, sensing that it would cause bad blood and possibly hamper the seemingly existing peace the State is currently enjoying.
The leadership of the House has also washed its hands off the plot of the VP and his cohorts to do a total overhauling of the PDP party structures in Kaduna state. The VP reasoned that by firmly grabbing the party structure, the impending PDP convention as well as the 2015 general elections would be a
smooth sail.
As it is now, after the failure of the first move to impeach the speaker, Hon. Jerry Kantiok, Hon. Philemon Usman, Hon. Ahmed H. Jumare, and Hon. Mukhtar Bashir Zuntu – the arrowhead of the impeachment saga – went to the governor in the evening of Friday 23rd Aug 2013 and again brokered a new strategy to impeach the current leadership of the house, especially the Speaker.
Since assuming office as the Executive Governor of the state, Ramalan has not been in charge of affairs in the state. The Vice President is responsible for most of the political activities, especially, those that concern movement of funds; he decides who get what.
The Governor’s biological father also has a great influence on his son. The man is known for being very controversial and his antecedents are so much known especially at the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Barnawa Kaduna. These are some of the reasons why from all indication the state has been at its lowest ebb since 1999, and that if Governor Yero doesn’t move away from these two characters, he would self-destruct
Vice President Namadi Sambo, is still avaricious of Kaduna State funds after failed attempt to have it his own way during the administration of late Yakowa. This greed cannot be unconnected with his ambition of acquiring the Kaduna Power Holding Company.
As it is now, the situation in Kaduna state is akin to a simmering volcano that could erupts anytime based on the impeachment plot as various youth groups have started mobilizing their members for a grand show down aimed at checkmating the dramatis personae and their sponsors
