In a move designed to boost the morale of officers and men of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, its Chairman, Ibrahim Lamorde on Friday August 23, 2013 approved the release of letters of promotion to 318 officers of the Commission who had been elevated to their next pay grade levels. This followed management approval of the result of the 2013 promotion examination conducted by the Public Service Institute of Nigeria. A break down of the figures shows that two officers, Olowonihi Ayo Peter, Commandant of the EFCC Academy and Sanga Bala Silas Danufi, Head of the Special Control Unit against Money Laundering became directors on grade level 17. Six officers were also elevated to the position of deputy directors: two in Legal and Prosecution Department, one each in Accounts and Finance, Public Affairs, Organisational Support and Planning, Policy and Statistics
A number of officers across all the directorates of the Commission were also elevated to the positions of Assistant Directors and other senior grades. However the bulk of those promoted were in the middle level cadre.
Bolaji Salami, Director, Organisational Support who announced the promotion congratulated all successful candidates and reiterated management belief that the promotion will spur them in achieving the Commission’s mandate.
The promotion exercise which affected a number of officers in the senior and junior cadres who had stagnated on certain grade levels for years, is coming a few months after some officers that were not well placed at the point on entry were regraded.
