On behalf of my family and the entire members of my team, I bring warm greetings to all the good people of our dear state and indeed to all Nigerians on a day like this that the whole world is celebrating the birth of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
To us in Bayelsa, this Christmas season offers us a unique opportunity to renew our strength in the love of Christ whose birth today has brought us good tidings of joy and goodwill.
The birth of Christ is a clear reminder that all hope is not lost. Our tragedies of yesterday are wiped away by His (Christ) birth.
If anything, it is often in our tragedies that new bonds of friendship and communal spirits are sometimes formed to enable us forge ahead even at a more faster pace for the rapid development and progress of our dear state.
I therefore seize this occasion of Christmas to salute all Bayelsans. I particularly salute your resilient spirits. The resilient spirits of every Bayelsa man, woman, boy and girl must be commended because in the truest sense, it helps us to surmount the most difficult of challenges and also helps bind us together as one people with a firm resolve to support one another. That in itself is the true spirit of Christmas!
As a nation, I wish to seize this opportunity to call on all Nigerians to renew their believe and faith in the Nigerian project. We must take advantage of the joy and good tidings of this season to reach out to one another in love as the birth of Christ aptly symbolises.
I therefore, urge all Nigerians to emphasise the bond and issues that unite us as a people than on those things that can disintegrate us.It is only by so doing that our nation can truly regain its true glory.
Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year in Advance!
