Greatness can be equated with accomplishment, fame, fortune, celebrity or wealth of experience and knowledge. No doubt, Her Excellency, Dame Patience Faka Jonathan, First Lady, Federal Republic of Nigeria has achieved a feat in her public career. She has demonstrated that she is not only a responsible citizen, but also committed to the restoration and realization of the vision of this administration, which is to build a first class and inclusive nation that is comparable to the best in the world.

In this regard, Her Excellency believes in Thomas Jefferson, third American President, 1801-1809 Democratic Republican who once observed that when you “enlighten the general masses, tyranny and oppression will vanish, like an evil spirit at the dawn of the day”. This position of Thomas Jefferson is a restatement of age long belief that “knowledge is power”. Other philosophers simply re-echoed this by insisting that enlightened populace is difficult to oppress but easy to govern.

Her Excellency, Dame Patience Faka Jonathan was born on the 25th of October 1957 in Port Harcourt and earned her school certificate in 1976. In 1989, she obtained the National Certificate of Education (NCE) in Mathematics and Biology from the Rivers State College of Arts and Science, Port Harcourt. In her quest for higher education, she proceeded to the University of Port Harcourt where she bagged a degree in Biology and Psychology.

She started her career as a teacher at the Stella Maris College, Port Harcourt and Sports Institute, Isake. Later, she moved to the financial sector in 1997, where she established the First Community bank in Port Harcourt called the Akpo Community bank. She served as marketing manager of Imieto Community bank. In view of her interest in teaching, she later returned to the classroom. Based on her interest in educational management and administration, she was transferred to the Bayelsa State Ministry of Education, where she served until the 29th of May 1999 when Dr. Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan her husband became the Deputy Governor of the state. Dame Patience Faka Jonathan was recently appointed Permanent Secretary in Bayelsa State because of her high administrative capability.

Her Excellency has been recognized locally, nationally and internationally for philanthropic work and political pragmatism. As a result, she received an international humanitarian award, New York, USA in 2009 for her role in the global fight against HIV/AIDS; the African goodwill ambassador award (Los Angeles, USA-2008). She was also a recipient of the wind of change award from the south-south women organization. While she was the first lady of Bayelsa State, she founded many philanthropic and women empowerment programme.

A quintessence of general administration cum educationist; a paradigm of humility and philanthropy, Her Excellency, Dame Patience Jonathan is a lady you cannot over look or pretend not to admit her presence. Nature is overwhelmingly benevolent to her and it is this enduring attributes that has enabled her to criss-cross Nigeria and the World like a colossus. Therefore, one can boldly and proudly say that despite the recent trial (ill-health) that took her to a German hospital, Her Excellency is still looking hail and hearty, bearing with confidence and dexterity. An excellent woman of humble parts, she is a stickler for perfection, is endowed with resounding abilities.

Dame Patience Faka Jonathan is humble, honest, faithful, homely, generous, motherly, caring, quiet, in fact she is a high degree of impetus. A patriot of immeasurable courage, a genuine friend of the oppressed, dogged defender of truth and justice and a true role model. In other words, she is a wonderful mother of all mothers who believes in being the best in whatever she does and always uphold that based on her rich resume, dignifying pedigree, administrative prowess and ingenuity. She believes that to accomplish great things, not only dream but act.

We believe in Her Excellency as a leader with an uncommon vision and courage, dedication and commitment, broad mindedness and open heartedness, experience and far sightedness, understanding and forbearance. We also believe in her as a leader who is honest, sincere, God-fearing and ready to make sacrifices for the purpose of ensuring the primacy of our moral rectitude and national interest.

We pray that the Almighty God, most benevolent and merciful, grant Her Excellency good health and long life since the Almighty God is the beginning and the end. He gives life. He is the owner of the universe. He is the Lion of the tribe of Judah. He is the Lily of the Valley, the Bright Morning Star and the Rose of Sharon. Finally, I also pray Almighty God to grant Her Excellency strength and good health in her duty to humanity.
