Nigeria was on Thursday in Abuja re-elected unopposed as president of the Africa First Ladies Peace Mission for another two years.The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that four regional vice-presidents were also elected.They are Cameroun, Libya, Sudan and South Africa. NAN recalls that First Lady Patience Jonathan took over the leadership of the mission from Hajiya Turai Yar’Adua following the death of her husband, President Umar Yar’Adua, in 2010.
The Summit, which started on Tuesday with experts’ meeting, ended on Friday.
Among other things, the Mission is aimed at strengthening the roles of African First Ladies in fostering peace on the continent. (NAN)
