The Anambra State House of Assembly has approved the 2012 budget of eighty three billion, two hundred million and three hundred and fourty thousand naira (83,200,340,000) for services in the state this fiscal year.
This figure represents an increase of six hundred million naira as against the eighty two billion, five hundred million, three hundred and fourty thousand naira presented to it by the Executive for consideration and approval, having effected such increase in the estimate of parastatals and tertiary institution, of which the State Teaching Hospital is a beneficiary.
In a brief remark at the plenary session, the Speaker of Anambra State House of Assembly, Princess Chinwe Nwaebili thanked the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation and all the Committees involved in the speedy passage of the bill and urged the Executive to see that the bill is implemented to the later.
Supporting the motion for adjournment, the member representing Onitsha South 1 Constituency, Dr. Emeka Aniebonam frowned at the unbecoming attitude of some ASTA officials to commuters in the state and observed as unsatisfactory the response he got from the Commissioner for Special duties and Transport on the issue.
Also the member representing Njikoka 1 Constituency, Mr. Val. Anyika saw the attitude of the road decongestion unit as unacceptable to his Committee while Speaker Nwaebili directed the chairmen of House Committees on Transport and Internally Generated Revenue to liaise with the Commissioner with the aim of finding lasting solution to the problem.
