Barely a few days after his appointment as the Special Adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on Youth Reformation, Dr. Nelson Omenugha has commenced a series of grassroots engagements aimed at advancing the administration’s Youth Reformation Agenda (YRA) across Anambra State.

The engagements, which cut across sports, faith-based gatherings, environmental advocacy and civic education, saw the governor’s aide interact with hundreds of young people in different communities while urging them to embrace values capable of fostering a better society.

Among the major highlights of the activities was the 2026 Inter-Zonal Volleyball Competition organised by the Dunukofia Region of the Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria (CYON) at St. Anthony’s Parish, Umudioka, where Omenugha sponsored prize awards amounting to ₦500,000 for the teams that emerged first, second and third in the competition.

Speaking during the event, Omenugha described sports as one of the most effective platforms for youth development, noting that sporting activities help to instil discipline, encourage teamwork, promote healthy competition, strengthen resilience and nurture leadership qualities among young people.

Beyond the excitement of the competition, he also used the opportunity to enlighten the participants on the objectives of the Youth Reformation Agenda being championed by Governor Soludo’s administration.

He encouraged the youths to become worthy ambassadors of the emerging Anambra, which, according to him, is founded on the principles of integrity, productivity, innovation, responsibility and selfless service.

Earlier, the governor’s aide had attended the regional convention of the Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria (CYON), Nnewi Region, held at St. Peter Claver’s Parish, Otolo Nnewi.

Addressing participants at the event, which was themed “Take Courage, I Have Overcome the World,” Omenugha stressed the importance of personal responsibility in achieving collective development.

According to him, the vision of building a greater Anambra State can only become a reality when individuals commit themselves to becoming better citizens through discipline, hard work and responsible conduct.

In another demonstration of the ideals of the Youth Reformation Agenda, Omenugha and other participants immediately embarked on the cleaning of the convention venue by removing waste materials littering the premises.

The initiative, he explained, was intended to uphold the message that genuine transformation begins with personal action and that societal values must be reflected in everyday conduct.

The event also featured the presentation of an Award of Excellence to Omenugha in recognition of his contributions to youth development and mentorship.

Reacting to the honour, he dedicated the award to young people who have continued to embrace the vision of building a more responsible and progressive society.

The governor’s aide also joined the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Barrister Sly Ezeokenwa, and other worshippers at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Oko, where they participated in church activities and supported the parish’s developmental efforts.

According to Omenugha, faith remains one of the most reliable foundations for responsible citizenship and sustainable societal transformation.

Reaffirming his commitment to the task before him, the newly appointed special adviser explained that the Youth Reformation Agenda would not be confined to policy the pronouncements alone but would instead be implemented through direct engagement with young people in schools, churches, communities, sporting events and other social platforms.

He further assured that the initiative would continue to promote positive values, recognise excellence, encourage volunteerism, strengthen environmental consciousness and inspire a new generation of responsible and productive citizens.

The latest engagements came only days after Governor Soludo yup reappointed Omenugha as a member of his administration, this time as Special Adviser on Youth Reformation, following his earlier service as Special Adviser on Youth Empowerment Programmes during the governor’s first tenure.
