ABA, Nigeria — A former Indigenous People of Biafra volunteer has shared a detailed eyewitness account recounting the lethal military and police crackdown on unarmed group members at National High School in Aba, Abia State.

In a video testimony published on Thursday, August 27, 2026, by Emeka Gift Official, the witness described how joint security forces surrounded and opened fire on hundreds of gathering members, alleging that over 200 victims were killed, doused with raw acid, and buried in mass graves.

According to the testimony provided in the video, the incident unfolded as members gathered at the school compound to hold a prayer service and rally for the release of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

The volunteer recounted that security operatives in over fifteen patrol vehicles from the police and army surrounded the school gates before forcing entry into the compound. He emphasized that the gathering was completely unarmed and that members were instructed by local coordinators to remain peaceful and avoid provoking the approaching troops.

The witness stated that security personnel positioned themselves at shoulder level and opened fire on the crowd, resulting in over 240 deaths and severe injuries directly before his eyes, claiming victims among young members and family heads from local organizational zones.

The witness recounted seeing troops return after the shooting to load deceased and injured members into operational vehicles. He alleged that security forces poured raw acid on the bodies of the dead and injured to prevent identification before burying them in mass graves located in remote burrow pits along the Aba-Port Harcourt expressway.

The former volunteer noted that organizational welfare teams and coordinators returned to the site over subsequent days to recover remaining bodies left at the location. He framed the heavy-handed military action at National High School as a pivotal catalyst that alienated local youths and ultimately drove the formation of armed regional resistance groups across the South-East.
