JOS, Nigeria — Troops of the Nigerian Army attached to Operation Enduring Peace, working in collaboration with local vigilantes and hunters, have arrested a 30-year-old woman, Halima Ibrahim, on suspicion of gunrunning and aiding kidnapping operations in Plateau State.
The arrest was executed during an intelligence-led raid on Kisayi and Dogon Daji settlements in Bassa Local Government Area following the recent abduction of a medical doctor, Abraham Owoicho.
Operation Details and Recoveries
According to official updates released by the Nigerian Army, several suspects fled into surrounding bushes upon sighting advancing security forces:
- Interception During Escape: Halima Ibrahim was apprehended while attempting to flee the scene with two AK-47 rifle magazines concealed in her possession.
- Residential Search: A subsequent search of her residence in Kisayi B Village led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one locally fabricated revolver pistol, a military jungle hat, and three mobile phones.
- Preliminary Findings: Initial interrogation indicated that the recovered AK-47 rifle allegedly belonged to her husband, identified as Mr. Ibrahim.

Military authorities reiterated their commitment to dismantling kidnapping and illegal arms networks across the region:
- Custody and Investigation: The suspect and recovered exhibits remain in military custody while security agencies trace the origin of the weapons and investigate links to active kidnapping syndicates in Bassa LGA.
- Joint Operations: Operation Enduring Peace continues to conduct coordinated raids alongside local stakeholders to secure vulnerable communities in Plateau State.
