ABAKALIKI, NIGERIA — A wave of public condemnation has hit the Ebonyi State Capital following a trending video that exposes the raw brutality of state security operatives attached to the convoy of Executive Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.

The video has prompted a direct, public appeal from citizens urging the Governor to rein in his security aides, who were captured violently smashing the windows of a citizen’s private vehicle after an unintentional traffic misstep.

The Roadside Incident

According to eyewitness accounts and reports accompanying the footage, the incident occurred along a major dual carriageway on Wednesday, July 8, 2026. The driver of the victim vehicle noticed the approaching, high-speed sirens of Governor Nwifuru’s convoy and immediately attempted to navigate toward the shoulder of the road to grant unhindered passage to the executive fleet.

However, during the hurried maneuver, the driver accidentally made minor contact with one of the convoy’s fast-moving escort motorcycles.

Rather than assessing the situation professionally or handling it as a standard traffic incident, the armed security operatives reportedly blocked the civilian vehicle, stepped out with heavy weapons, and unleashed immediate violence on the property.

Brutality Captured on Camera

The viral video clip, filmed by terrified onlookers from a safe distance, shows the uniform-clad security personnel aggressively surrounding the stationary car.

Ignoring pleas from the driver and occupants, the operatives used the butts of their rifles and iron batons to systematically shatter the driver-side and passenger windows of the vehicle, showering the interior with broken glass.

“Call Your Men To Order” — Citizens React

A prominent indigene of the state, who amplified the footage online, explicitly tagged Governor Nwifuru, demanding an immediate administrative query, the identification of the rogue officers, and full compensation for the traumatized driver.

“Your Excellency, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, this barbarism occurred right under your watch,” the citizen stated. “A driver tries to respect your convoy by pulling over, makes a human mistake by grazing a bike, and your men respond like bandits by destroying his car? This is unacceptable in a democratic state.”

As the video continues to gain heavy traction across regional networks, the Ebonyi State Government House and the State Police Command have remained silent. Civil rights groups have warned that failing to penalize the operatives involved will send a dangerous signal that state-sponsored thuggery against law-abiding taxpayers is officially tolerated.
