JOS — A major breakthrough in the war against rural terrorism has been recorded in Plateau State following the reported arrest of a notorious bandit commander, Abubakar Adamu, popularly known across criminal networks as “Buba.”

Local sources reveal that the dreaded kingpin, who has been on the radar of intelligence agencies for anchoring coordination teams behind several bloody raids, was tracked down and apprehended in Hokk village, located within the Horop District of Bokkos Local Government Area.

Buba stands accused of masterminding and executing series of devastating attacks against communities in Mushere West, leaving a trail of displacement, death, and destruction in the agrarian locality.

The Midnight Dragnet

According to community insiders, the operation that led to the capture of the bandit leader was executed quietly following actionable intelligence regarding his movements within the Horop axis.

Local vigilantes and intelligence operatives reportedly cordoned off his hideout before moving in to effect the high-profile arrest, catching the cell leader completely off-guard.

Residents of Bokkos, a local government area that has suffered repeated massacres and reprisal conflicts over the years, welcomed the development with cautious optimism, describing Buba as a major cog in the machinery of terror destabilizing the local government.

Security Agencies Maintain Tactical Silence

Despite the widespread celebration and local confirmation of the arrest across Bokkos Local Government Area, the military joint task force and the Plateau State Police Command have not yet released an official statement confirming the arrest or outlining formal charges.

Senior security sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity explained that the tactical silence is standard procedure to allow interrogators to extract critical operational information regarding Buba’s remaining cells, weapon suppliers, and financiers before his gang becomes aware of his capture.

“When a commander of that scale is taken alive, you do not rush to the press,” an intelligence officer stated. “You exploit the window of his absence to dismantle his network.”

A Ray of Hope for Mushere West

The neutralization of Abubakar Adamu’s operational capacity is viewed as a significant victory for the traumatized residents of Mushere West, who have faced constant threats of displacement from their ancestral farmlands.

As communities await formal briefing from the defense headquarters, local leaders are urging security agencies to intensify forest sweeps around the boundaries of Bokkos to ensure that remnants of Buba’s gang do not launch retaliatory attacks against vulnerable villages.
