BENIN CITY, NIGERIA — In a dramatic twist to the ongoing battle against insecurity in the South-South region, the Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo Ewuare II, has officially declared spiritual warfare against bandits, kidnappers, and armed robbers terrorizing Edo State.

The revered monarch has directed all traditionalists across the Edo South Senatorial District—including native doctors, water goddess priestesses, and adherents of powerful traditional deities like Osokpikan, Aiyelala, and Olokun—to mobilize with their spiritual instruments to lay heavy, multi-generational curses on criminal elements and their collaborators.

A Royal Directive from the Ancestors

The command was issued directly during an emergency meeting convened by the monarch at his palace in Benin City, where top traditional practitioners gathered to address the deteriorating security situation.

Speaking to the traditionalists, Oba Ewuare II revealed that the order to deploy non-kinetic spiritual defenses was inspired by divine guidance and ancestral instruction to preserve the peace of the land.

“Today is a great day. I welcome you with the power of our ancestors. Many things that are not supposed to be happening are happening in this state. We have to pray. Those who want to destroy the kingdom will not succeed,” the Oba declared.

Speaking through the Akenuwa of Benin, Chief Osaigbovo Osamwonyi, the palace emphasized that the spiritual offensive is designed to support ongoing efforts by both the federal and Edo State governments to completely wipe out violent crime.

“You all know what is happening. The Oba is trying to bring peace. All the bad things are what we want to wipe away. Use all that you have to send all the wicked ones away, so that we can have a good sleep,” the Palace representative stated.

The Timeline of the Spiritual Siege

The traditionalists have been ordered to immediately commence an intensive, week-long spiritual exercise across their respective domains to intercede for the land.

The massive campaign will reach a head on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 6:00 AM, where all priests, priestesses, and native doctors will return to the Oba’s Palace with all their traditional instruments of power for a final, coordinated ritual to release devastating curses upon evildoers.

Responding to the royal decree, prominent practitioners expressed absolute conviction in the potency of the incoming spiritual crackdown. Chief Egboye, a top traditional doctor present at the meeting, stated:

“Our Oba called us to remove all the wahala (trouble) in this state. The prayers and actions will work. That is what our forefathers did. It has never failed.”

Similarly, the Ohen N’ Ogbeguma N’ Ayen, Princess Juliet Ehigiamusoe, assured the palace that priestesses would harness all spiritual elements from the waters and the land to execute the monarch’s orders.

Complementing State Efforts

The Oba’s decision to launch spiritual warfare coincides with recent administrative moves by the Edo State government to establish special, fast-track courts dedicated strictly to handling armed robbery, kidnapping, and ritual practices to ensure immediate punishment for offenders.

While state actors handle the legal and kinetic approach, the Benin Kingdom is locking down the spiritual realm, warning criminals that the land itself has turned against them.
