An aspirant for the Bauchi South Senatorial District seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC Honourable Abdulmumi Muhammad Kundak, has called on the National leadership of the Party to investigate because, no valid primary election was conducted in the Bauchi South Senatorial district for the senatorial first Primary -scheduled exercise.
Kundak made the declaration while addressing journalists o calling on the national leadership of the APC to investigate alleged irregularities surrounding the exercise in Bauchi State.
He alleged that, there was no evidence that any primary election took place across the senatorial district.
“You are all living witnesses. Where was the election conducted? Can anybody show any ward or polling unit where the exercise took place?” he asked.
The aspirant described the exercise as a “so-called primary,” insisting that due process was not followed in the selection process.
He alleged that the process was hijacked by some individuals within the party, adding that there were several unanswered questions regarding the conduct of the primary.
Kundak said that his decision to address the media was aimed at drawing the attention of the APC leadership to what transpired in the state.
“That is why I am making this press conference, so that the APC leadership can investigate and find out the reality of what happened in Bauchi,” he said.
He maintained that although some persons had already announced their candidacies for the senatorial seat, the party leadership still had a responsibility to verify that the process complied with the party’s guidelines.
Kundak, who explained that he joined the race following calls from party stakeholders, community leaders, organisations, and APC members within the district, said he had expected a transparent and credible primary election process but was disappointed by the outcome.
“I was thinking there would be an elaborate and transparent process to make the primary possible, but now it has been hijacked by some people,” he stated.
He, however, expressed optimism about the future of the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the crisis as an internal issue that could be resolved.
“These are in-house problems, and once we can solve them, the APC will succeed in the 2027 elections,” he added.
