..Free Skills Acquisition Programme to Provide Practical Training for Women Ahead of Main Summit_

Port Harcourt — The city of Port Harcourt is set to witness a major gathering of women leaders, entrepreneurs, and change-makers as the ThatAfricanMom Women Summit 2026 holds on April 17 and 18, with a strong focus on empowerment, economic advancement, and personal development.

The two-day event is being organised by ThatAfricanMom, a women-focused empowerment platform founded by Dr Hafsat Akande, and is expected to attract participants from across Nigeria.

The summit carries the theme, “Rooted. Recharged. Ready: The True African Woman,” reflecting its emphasis on identity, resilience, and leadership.

Proceedings will begin on April 17 with a free skills acquisition programme targeted at women seeking to develop practical, income-generating abilities.

The training, which is open to the public, will offer participants hands-on exposure to various vocational and entrepreneurial skills aimed at improving financial independence and supporting small-scale business growth.

According to the organisers, the skills acquisition component is a critical part of the summit’s structure, designed to bridge the gap between inspiration and real-life impact.

Participants are expected to leave with applicable knowledge that can help them start or expand businesses, thereby contributing to household income and community development.

The main summit will take place on April 18 and will feature a lineup of keynote speakers, panel discussions, and interactive sessions focusing on entrepreneurship, financial literacy, leadership, family development, and women’s wellbeing.

The event will also provide networking opportunities, enabling participants to connect with mentors, industry professionals, and like-minded women.

One of the high points of the summit will be the ThatAfricanMom Impact Awards, which will honour outstanding women who have demonstrated excellence and made measurable contributions in areas such as girls’ education, women empowerment, small business development, and community service.
