ABUJA — Chaos erupted at the Federal Secretariat on Monday morning as a fire tore through a section of the office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

The blaze was first spotted around 8:20 AM at Block C, sending thick plumes of black smoke into the sky and forcing hundreds of civil servants to flee the building in panic.

Firefighters from the Federal Fire Service are currently on the scene battling the flames. Security teams have cordoned off the area, diverting traffic near the Federal Court of Appeal to make way for emergency trucks.

There are no immediate reports of casualties, and the cause of the fire remains unknown.
