Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has come out to set the record straight, saying the Senate didn’t reject electronic transmission of election results as widely reported. He explained that the Senate actually passed the provision for electronic transmission of results during plenary, but due to noise and movement in the chamber, some observers got the wrong impression
Abaribe emphasized that the Senate’s decision doesn’t mean they’ve abandoned the idea of electronic transmission. Instead, they’ve retained the existing provision, which allows the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to decide the mode of transmission. He also assured that the Senate would reconvene to formally adopt the votes and proceedings, ensuring the record accurately reflects the passage of electronic transmission of results
