…APC Leaders Demand Immediate Removal of Wike as FCT Minister

A coalition of leaders within the All Progressives Congress (APC) staged a peaceful rally at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, calling for the immediate sack of Nyesom Wike as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The groups, APC Leaders Forum (ALF) and Tinubu/Shettima Solidarity Movement (TSSM), accuse Wike of insubordination, anti-party conduct, and actions that could undermine national unity.

The protesters, who claim to be loyal supporters of President Bola Tinubu, argue that Wike’s continued presence in the cabinet poses a threat to party cohesion and national stability, particularly ahead of the 2027 general elections. They cite Wike’s alleged comments, including a warning that those meddling in Rivers affairs would “get their fingers burnt,” as intimidation and a direct affront to the APC National Working Committee.

The groups also accuse Wike of working against the APC in Rivers State, allegedly attacking Governor Siminalayi Fubara and questioning his legitimacy. They claim Wike’s actions amount to anti-party activities, weakening the APC’s hold on Rivers State, a key battleground for future electoral success.

The APC leaders have given President Tinubu an ultimatum, threatening nationwide protests if Wike is not removed from office. They argue that decisive action would send a clear message that no individual is above the party or the nation.

The rally was also held in solidarity with Governor Fubara, Senator Basiru, and APC National Chairman Prof. Yilwatda. The groups expressed concern over Wike’s alleged statement that “nobody can enter Rivers State,” describing it as a challenge to presidential authority and a potential incitement to violence.
