President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has renamed Federal University Medical Sciences Azare after late Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi.
Tinubu made the disclosure
on Saturday, when he paid a condolence visit to the family of the late renowned Islamic scholar in Nigeria, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi.
The President, described the death as a “great national loss,” noting that the Sheikh’s life embodied humility, service, and dedication.
He prayed for Allah’s mercy upon his soul and for him admission into Jannatul Firdaus.
Tinubu also prayed for strength for the Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi’s family, the government, and the people of Bauchi State to bear the loss.

He urged Nigerians to continue to pray for peace and unity across the country, emphasizing the need for collective resilience in challenging times.
Responding on behalf of the family, Sheikh Ibrahim Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, the eldest son of the late Cleric, expressed gratitude to the President for the visit and prayers.
He also thanked Bauchi State Governor Sen. Bala Mohammed for his continued support to the family.
Governor Mohammed, who received the delegation, thanked President Tinubu for honoring the family and Bauchi State at large.
Mohammed describe the visit as auspicious and the State love the President as the President love the State”,.
He equally used the medium to commended the APC family for the warmest reception from the supporters since from the Airport dawn to the late shiek Dahiru Usman Bauch house.
“Your Excellency were very great full were very delighted for this visit, Mr President you have sent the Vice President with a powerful delegation, all the Minister’s from the region and later on the minister of finance, and up course you had to come by your self this shows the kind of affinity and respect you have for the family of late shiek Dahiru Usman Bauchi and others.
“And I’m equally happy that the APC family not let us dawn because as you can see from the Airport dawn you’ve seeing the crowd of people.
“Bauchi people love you as you love them, it’s a reciprocal love. We thank you more sincerely for your coming”,.
Earlier, Dr Bashir Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi who spoke on behalf of the bereaved family, expressed profound gratitude to the President for sending a high profile delegation to attend the funeral of their father and for “coming to Bauchi by himself” to condole the family.
“I believed your Excellency you consider this lost Shiek Dahiru Usman Bauch as your personal lost, considering your long standing relationship with late Islamic leader.
“Shiek Dahiru Usman Bauch as scholarly icon and iconic father, Shiek Dahiru, Mr President we’re really appreciated for this condolence visit”,.
Our correspondent report that some members of the presidential delegation include Governors of Yobe and Plateau states, representatives of the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives among others.
