Members of the Concerned Legacy Group of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau have urged Gov. Caleb Mutfwang to join the party.

The group’s leader, Mr Emmanuel Dankasa, issued the call during a news conference held on Friday in Jos.

Dankasa said his group, which he described as one of the state’s pioneer APC bodies, believes the governor’s defection would serve Plateau’s wider interests.

He criticised those allegedly blocking the move, calling them “enemies” who “do not mean well for the party”.

He said “some disgruntled individuals without the backing of genuine APC members” were insisting the governor was not welcome in the party.

Dankasa said members who helped build the party “from the foundation” found such comments “ill-advised, counterproductive and puerile”.

He added that true party loyalists viewed the behaviour as “gross misconduct and the height of anti-party activity”.

Dankasa insisted that such conduct “deserves to be reprimanded with the full weight of disciplinary sanctions”.

He described the governor’s rumoured defection as the “biggest catch” for the party since its formation in 2013.

Dankasa, who thanked President Bola Tinubu for what he called steady support for Plateau, urged the governor to align with the party at the centre.

He said members were adding their voices “to the patriotic calls on Mutfwang by genuine lovers of the party to join mainstream national politics”.
