Yet – to- be- identified gunmen on Tuesday attacked some security operatives attached to the governor of Abia state, Alex Otti.
They were attacked at a location in between Umuowa and Ihite junction, in the Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State.
They were on the way to the Sam Mbakwe international cargo Airport in Imo State when they were attacked.
A statement issued by Ukoha Njoku, who is the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Abia State, disclosed that no life was lost in the incident.
Njoku also disclosed that Otti was not in the convey when the gunmen struck.
Part of the statement read “in the early hours of today, December 2nd, an advance team of three members from the Office of the Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, on duty to Sam Mbakwe Airport, Imo State, was attacked by unidentified gunmen.
“The incident occurred between Umuowa and Ihite junction, shortly before the Sam Mbakwe Airport Junction in Imo State.
“The general public is hereby informed that the convoy of Governor Otti was not involved in this attack, and no lives were lost during the unfortunate incident.”
