Information reaching 247ureports.com indicates that the crisis bedevilling the Peoples Democratic People [PDP] may be turning another page as Justice Abdulmalik is scheduled to give a ruling today or tomorrow to invalidate the Convention held by the PDP at Ibadan, Oyo State recently.

A preliminary objection case had been filed by the breakaway faction of the PDP headed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory [FCT], Nyesom Wike. The objection was filed yesterday urging the Court to invalidate the PDP Convention.

The plaintiffs in the case were The PDP and Sam Anyanwu. As gathered by this reporter, the PDP [headed by Damagu] is expectant of the likely ruling from the Justice Abdulmalik Court and as a result has prepared themselves against the probable outcome.

This is following an earlier observation made by the PDP in a letter dated November 19, 2025 addressed and submitted to the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tsoho where the PDP revealed all PDP related cases had been assigned repeatedly to only three [3] Courts headed by Justice Omotoso, Justice Lifu and Justice Abdulmalik. This is out of twelve [12] available Judges. The PDP termed it as suspicious and requested for PDP cases to be assigned to other Courts instead of the three. The rulings from the three [3] Judges always favour the PDP breakaway group headed by Nyesom Wike. See letter below

In a nutshell, according to informed insiders, the expected ruling by Justice Abdulmalik will invalidate the PDP convention on the grounds that Sam Anyanwu’s signature was forged and that Sam Anyanwu and the breakaway PDP group were not part of the said convention at Ibadan, Oyo State.

However cursory investigation indicates the signature of Sam Anyanwu may have not been forged as he claims. Before the troubles currently bedevilling began, when all the parties spoke with one voice, the PDP held a historic NEC meeting [101 NEC] where major decision were taken and documents were signed. About thirteen [13] letters were signed by both the acting chairman [Damagu] and the then Secretary [Anyanwu]. One of the letters was dispatched to the Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC] informing them of decision to hold Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Prior to agreeing to sign the letters, Sam Anyanwu, Nyesom Wike and two others had made a request – which they cited as conditions to signing the said letters. They requested for the Zonal and State PDP congresses for the South East and South East States be cancelled – and allow “their” group to redo the exercise to favour their group.

According to our source, “they wanted the South East PDP structure“, to enable them control who the PDP would present as a Presidential candidate in 2027. The yet to be breakaway group – led by Nyesom Wike [including Seyi Makinde at the time] launched a nationwide campaign within the stakeholders in the party seeking to convince the stakeholders of the need to have firmer grip of who flies the PDP banner in 2027. At first, the Wike marketed the idea as being merely anti-Atiku. Nyesom Wike told PDP governors and major stakeholders that he wanted control of the internal PDP structure to ensure Abubakar Atiku does not fly the PDP banner in 2027. To this, many of the stakeholders and some Governors bought into the idea.

Suddenly, the Nyesom Wike group changed the goal post.

They began having secret meetings with Governors and stakeholders of the PDP asking them to simply forget about 2027 presidential campaign – and to shift their interest to 2031 instead. The game plan was to weaken the PDP and present a weak candidate that would not pose a threat to the All Progressive Congress [APC].

It was the shift in goal-post that changed everything.

So when the request by the Wike group to control the south east PDP structure was denied, Sam Anyanwu reacted and approached the courts stating that his signature was forged. He even wrote to the INEC indicating his signature was forged. His actions along with other action led to the PDP suspending him and his two other cohorts to one month suspension.

During the one-month period, Sam Anyanwu in tandem with Nyesom Wike formed a breakaway group. They named an interim chairman.

Meanwhile, the preparation for the Ibadan PDP convention continued as planned. On the day of the convention, the PDP convened and took critical decisions that included the expulsion of Sam Anyanwu and two others, suspension of Nyesom Wike and other major decisions.

Today or tomorrow, it is expected for one of the “Judges of Particular Concern” will rule on the validity or invalidity of PDP convention.

Stay tuned.
