Two days after three political parties in Anambra state concluded their primary elections , four aspirants that lost their the bid to secure the tickets of their firmer parties have stormed the state headquarters of the Action People’s Party APP seeking to take part in the party’s gubernatorial primary election.
The aspirants are from the All Progressives Congress APC and the Labor Party who had either withdrawn from the contest or lost the primary elections .
Though the APP is yet to disclose their names but it was gathered that they have convened first meeting with their ward and local government Chairmen who had already forwarded details of the outcome of the meeting to the state working committee of the party .
The APP which also has Senatorial aspirant for the fort coming Anambra South Senatorial District election has fixed March 9th for it’s primary election in Awka .
Speaking with reporters in Awka the state Chairman of the Action People’s People’s Party APP Chief Chijioke Okeke confirmed that the party has been receiving overtures from many aspirants adding that the doors of the party is open to membership.
Okeke however noted that any aspirant that is seeking fir the ticket of the party must be subjected to the constitution and the electoral guidelines of the party.
“I cannot say exactly how many they are and they may be four or six of them but what matters is that there would be no wavers ”
“They would be subjected to the constitution and guidelines of the party for the primary election and we shall ensure that the internal democracy in our great party”
Reacting to the allegations that the party is a dumping ground for losers of primary election, Okeke contended that ;
“That is not true at all. We have had cases where people lose electrons in the so called big parties and join another party that you people claim to big ”
“,All political parties are equal and it is all about people and not the name of the party and be informed that we have a governor of a state that his local government Chairmen ran under the platform of the APP ”
Okeke further added that ; “We have an aspirant for the Anambra South Senatorial District election and we are contesting to win and bear in mind that after the gubernatorial primary election we shall commence full blast campaign across the state and we are not cowed by the so called big names that are contesting the November 8th gubernatorial election”
