Barely two days to the end of deadline for the purchase of nomination forms in the Anambra state chapter of the People’s Democratic Party PDP it is not clear how many persons have obtained forms ahead of it’s primary election.
The party had pegged the cost of purchasing it’s firm at N40 million which it was suspected to had been the reason behind the alleged reluctancy of prospective aspirants to obtain forms .
However it has been confirmed that a one time Chairman of the Labour Party Chief Jude Ezenwafor has purchased the expression of interest form of the PDP being the only known Aspirant of the party.
When contacted the state Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party PDP Chief Chidi Chidebe told reporters that forms are being obtained at the Wadata Plazar party headquarters in Abuja contending that he cannot say the number of those that have collected forms of the party.
“I cannot say the number or those that have purchased forms for our primary election because those forms are being bought at the party headquarters in Abuja”
“Yes the deadline for the purchase of forms is this week Wednesday and it has not changed but for me to tell you those that have purchased forms is not possible because I am not in Abuja to know those that have collected forms ” he said.
It is however being touted that one of the aspirants of the party in the last gubernatorial primary election Dr Godwin Maduka is set to purchase the form following increased activities at his campaign office popularly known as Godwin Maduka Foundation in Awka Anambra state.
The office complex is currently wearing a new look as the building is being refurbished and meetings holding at the complex .
Maduka in the last election dumped the PDP after he could not win the ticket of the party but contested the election proper under the platform of the Accord Party .
However the only PDP gubernatorial aspirant of the party Chief Jude Ezenwafor told reporters that he is the only known Aspirant of the party adding that he has not been informed who are his fellow aspirants.
“Yes I have purchased the governorship nomination form of our great party the People’s Democratic Party PDP and I am contesting to win “
“I don’t think another person has obtained the form of our party for the purposes of contesting for the ticket of our party because if there is I would have known by now”
Reacting to the possible change or extension of the deadline for the purchase of nomination forms Ezenwafor contended that;
“The party gave enough time for people to purchase forms and the deadline is known to all party members and those who may have interest but I don’t think it is indeed fair to extend the date because it would all seem like some persons are being favoured “
“But if our great party in it’s wisdom feels like extending the deadline, it doesn’t change the support that I have been enjoying from our great party men and women because they already know my capacity is a great party man ” he said .
