The PDP Governors’ Forum has strongly refuted rumors claiming that five of its members are backing a potential 2027 presidential ticket featuring Nasir El-Rufai of the APC and Peter Obi of the Labour Party. In a statement issued by the Forum’s Director General, Dr. Emmanuel Agbo, the Governors condemned the spreading of what they described as “unpleasant and provoking publications” aimed at destabilizing the party and undermining its leadership.

The statement, which was released on behalf of the Forum by the Governor of Bauchi State, H.E. Senator Bala Mohammed CON, pointed out that such rumors were being circulated by “negative forces and their agents” who could not tolerate the Forum’s consistent questioning of the current administration’s economic policies. The PDP Governors emphasized that these forces were attempting to create a one-party system, eroding democratic values, and obstructing the progress of the opposition.

The statement further emphasized that the Forum remains committed to reconciliation and unity within the party and has been actively working on policies to uplift Nigerians from economic hardship, despite the challenges posed by the ruling APC.

“These mischief makers and detractors are merely intimidated by the outstanding performance of PDP Governors in their states and are resorting to spreading falsehoods to discredit our good work,” the statement read. “We will not allow such enemies of progress to mislead the Nigerian people.”
