The association of Abakaliki, Ebonyi state lawyers based in Anambra state has commended the Federal government for appointing Professor Bernard Ifeanyichukwu Odoh, a professor of Geo-physics and an Indigene of Ebonyi state as a substantive Vice-Chancellor of the prestigious Nnamdi Azikiwe University, UNIZIK, Awka, Anambra state.

Chairman of the Association, Barrister Victor Alo who made the commendation while speaking to newsmen in his law Chambers in Onitsha, said the appointment came at a right time when there is a dire need to douse the tension associated with the protracted crises that surrounded the appointment of the substantive Vice-Chancellorship of the University.

He described Professor Odoh as a round peg in a round hole, adding that his well deserved appointment was based on merit, capacity and on the principle of federal character.

According to Alo, “we have every conviction that putting into consideration of Prof Odoh’s intimidating academic credentials, versatile experience and global exposure, he is going to uplift the University to higher academic excellence”.

Alo further described Odoh as a man of proven integrity, impeccable character and cognate intellect.

“We are hopeful that he will use his versatile academic credentials to uplift the University for greater academic excellence and we are using this opportunity to urge all the students of the institution and the entire University community to join hands with him in order to lift the academic institution to the next academic level”.
