VC Ogah Charge New EBSUAA Excos To Defend Alma Mater Institution

The Vice Chancellor, Ebonyi state University, Abakaliki, Prof. Chigozie Ogbu has charged the new Executive Officers of EBSU Alumni Association to defend their Alma mater Institution.

Prof. Ogbu gave the charge at the Inauguration of the newly elected Excos, EBSU Alumni Association EBSUAA, Abakaliki.

The VC while congratulating the new officers, task them to use their position in effecting changes in the institution.

He said, “We are happy that you’ve accepted that position to serve, I’m charging you to make sure that your leadership period will bring new changes in all Alma mater.

“There have been a lot of misgivings about people who don’t understand what is happening in your Alma mater, and they go out to say all sorts of things.

Prof. Ogah however urged the new Excos to endeavor to defend the institution’s interest in conflict/crisis situation, by finding out from the management, the root cause of any problem so as to present the truth to people.

Adding, “But when they run down your institution, they also run you down. So your position as leadership of the Alumni is very important,” VC Ogbu said.

In his remark, the former National President EBSUAA, Dr. Kenneth Ereke appreciated the Association for a successful election, stating that EBSU Alumni is known for peace. He urged members to support the new Excos, to be more constructive in criticism and avoid fault finding.

The new National President EBSUAA, Chief Sunday Nwangele, in his acceptance speech, appreciated the VC EBSU, Governing Council, and staffs for the enviable ranking standard the university has attained. He assured that his regime will sustain and improve on legacies of the previous regime.
