Gov Charles Soludo of Anambra state has dismissed the trending story of having issues with the Obi of Onitsha Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe hence his absence at the 23rd Ofala Festival of the Monarch.
Speaking on behalf of the governor, the Commissioner for local government and Town Union Affairs Chief Tony Collins Nwabunwanne contended that the governor has no problems with the Monarch nor with the Traditional institution in the state .
Nwabunwanne further noted that Gov Charles Soludo was out of the state for an Investment Summit on Thursday and came back later I the day on Friday which was too late to attend the Ofala Festival.
He also said that himself was away to attend a meeting of the South East Commissioners for local government hence could not make it at the Ofala Festival in Onitsha.
“People like to make bogus claims over non issues and we all know that the governor attended an Investment Summit out of the state on Thursday and came back later on Friday and it was too late for him to be there”
“We wish to make it clear that the report that the Obi of Onitsha in his address accused the governor of trying to run down the Anambra Traditional institution is not true because we have gone through that address and there was no place he said that nor mention the name of the governor “
“The governor attended an Investment Summit out of the state and I was at the meeting of the South East Commissioners for local government and Town Union Affairs hence I could not attend “
“The governor came back later in the day of Friday and cannot attend the function because it was late on that day ” he said .
Nwabunwanne further contended that “the allegations that the state government is having problems with Traditional Rulers is the handy works of fifth columnists whose activities are known to everyone as rabble rousers and it is on record that Gov Charles Soludo enjoys very robost and close relationship with the Traditional Rulers and we urge members of the public to discountenance those stories “he said.
According to the said report , the governor shunned the invitation of Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe Agbogidi to the 23rd Ofala Festival in Onitsha and that this was the climax of the prolonged face off between the governor and the Traditional institution in the state.
