RESOLUTIONS OF THE IGBO DELEGATES ASSEMBLY (IDA) AT THE DELEGATES MEETING HELD AT MAKURDI BENUE STATE BETWEEN THURSDAY 26TH & FRIDAY 27TH SEPTEMBER, 2024

The meeting was attended by DELEGATES from across the 19 northern states and the FCT.

Issues concerning the welfare, relationship and security of Ndigbo in northern Nigeria, and the Igbo nation in general were discussed.

The meeting resolved that; Ndigbo in the north should continue to co-habit in peace with their hosts, mind their legitimate businesses, and contribute positively to the development of their places of residence. While staying vigilante and mindful of events around them.

We commensurate with the Iwuanyanwu family, leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo: and the entire Igbo nation on the death of the President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Chief Engr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.

We call on Ndigbo and our friends in the entire northern Nigeria, to avail themselves of the condolence registers opened in the 19 northern states and the FCT.

We extend our sincere and heartfelt sympathies to the good people of Borno State on the unfortunate flood disaster that claimed many lives and destroyed properties worth billions of Naira. We call on the governors of the Igbo states to reach out to the indigenes of their respective states negatively impacted by the disaster, to provide them with palliatives that will get them back on their feet.

That having received the report of the inauguration and award committee, a new date will soon be fixed for the event as the earlier date has been overtaken by the death of the President -General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Chief Engr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.

We lend our unflinching support and loyalty to the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo for the seamless manner the affairs of the body has been piloted since the demise of our leader Chief Engr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu. Consequently,
we hereby pass a vote of confidence on the purposeful and all-embracing leadership provided by the Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Amb. Okey Emutchay, even as we advise those stoking the embers of non- existing conflict to desist forthwith and allow Ndigbo a period of sober reflection as we mourn our late President-General.

Finally, we salute the courage and brotherly conduct of the Igbo governors in their effort in putting together an all-unifying funeral rites for the late President-General, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.
