The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has announced a general blackout in the five Southeastern states of Nigeria.
The Head of Corporate Communications, EEDC, Mr. Emeka Ezeh announced this in a statement made available to newsmen on Monday.
According to him, the blackout was as a result of general system collapse that occured at about 6:48 PM on Monday, which resulted in all the EEDC interface TCN stations being out of supply.
Mr. Ezeh did not state when supply will be restored; but, however, explained that the Company is on standby awaiting detailed information of the collapse and restoration of supply from the National Control Centre (NCC).
His words: “The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) wishes to inform her esteemed customers of a general system collapse that occurred at 18:48 hours today, 14th October, 2024. This has resulted in the loss of supply currently being experienced across EEDC network.
“Consequently, due to this development, all our interface TCN stations are out of supply, and we are unable to provide services to our customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States.
We are on standby awaiting detailed information of the collapse and restoration of supply from the National Control Centre (NCC), Osogbo.”
It would be recalled that similar regional system collapse and blackout in southeast also occured some months ago, in April 15, 2024.
