The planned hunger protest slated to begin today, the first day of August 2024 in the entire geo-cultural regions of Nigeria, has started as scheduled on a peaceful note.

This is as information reacting 247ureports.com indicates that the law enforcement authorities have begun making frantic arrests of youth leaders across the northern regions of the country where the protest is reported to hit the hardest.

In Gombe, a state located in the North Eastern region of Nigeria, a youth leader (Hossami Ocheche) who hails from the Kumo Community was arrested as he led a peaceful procession of his community members on a protest, holding up placards and walking around the community.

As he protested, Police officers from the Kumo police division arrived and forced him to stop protesting and to follow them to the police station. The police officers used tear gas to separate him from his followers.

One of the eyewitnesses who spoke to 247ureports.com regarding the incident stated, “In Kumo, police & vigilante groups are denying citizens their fundamental rights! They’ve even arrested & paraded Hussaini Ocheche simply for exercising his rights! I demand justice & action from the relevant authorities!”

Ocheche has not been seen since he was taken away. Efforts to reach him by Community Members have failed.
