The South East Governors have resolved to meet with the Federal Government in order to secure Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s release from detention.
This was contained in a press release made available to newsmen, by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Monday Uzor.
According to Uzor, “It was part of their resolutions taken after a closed door meeting of the Forum which was held at Government House, Enugu on Tuesday.”
The Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodinma also told newsmen that the Forum deliberated on the reviewed reports of the South East security and economic summit held recently at owerri and resolved to implement aspects partaining to security and economic integration of the region.
He said the Governors will visit President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to discuss pressing issues concerning the South East region.
Speaking further he said the Forum commiserated with the people of the region over the death of the Former Governor of old Abia State Dr. Ogbonaya Onu and thereafter constituted a nine member burial Committee headed by Sen. Anyim Pius Anyim, while Rt Hon. Rotimi Amechi is to serve as secretary.
The meeting was attended by all the Governors in the zone including Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State.
