Imolites For Good Governance (IFGG) has once again called on the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma to as a matter of urgency fulfill the promise he made at the peak of his campaign that he would take 4000 Imo youths to Europe where they would be gainfully employed.
The youths who stated this yesterday at the end of their monthly meeting, said their investigation reveals that the Governor has not made any effort to fulfill the promise, despite several reminders from well meaning individuals and groups. “Besides, it was the promise that made the youths to vote massively for him.
The Spokesperson of the group, Comrade Clinton Nnadi, said they are using this opportunity to remind the Governor of his unfulfilled campaign promise, adding that, the Governor has not done much in terms of job creation in the state, hence the youths are roaming about aimlessly.
They noted with concern that what happened in the state during the menace of unknown gun men shows that Imo State, is indeed the headquarters of unemployment hence the frightening rate of insecurity. “We expect the Governor to rise up to the challenge of ensuring that the youths are gainfully employed, as anything short of that will amount to disservice to the state and her people.
“It is disheartening that uptill date the Governor has not deemed it fit to left the ban on employment, even in the tertiary institutions most of which are known to be highly under staffed with very unpleasant consequences on the quality of teaching and learning”.
