A leading name in the nation’s cargo industry, (Chido Cargo and Logistics Ltd) is at the advanced stage of approaching a court of competent jurisdiction to possibly remand Mr. Mmaduabuchukwu Okeke for allegedly sizing his haulage truck for some weeks now, despite several appeals from far and near for the recovery of the said truck.
According to a letter from a-Lagos state based solicitor to the cargo company, Otogbolu I. Joseph & Co, “Mr. Mmaduabuchukwu Okeke had sometime on October, 5, 2022 did unlawfully locked up and detained a Mercedes Benz, Truck with registration number: KRD 680 YF in his Maza Maza office and every plea made by the owner of the said truck to recover it fell on the deaf ears of Mr. Okeke”.
The management director, Chido Cargo Logistics (Chidozie Idoko) while making his feelings known to newsmen ,said he decided to approach the Court after much apprehension, anxiety and seemingly obtrusive moves by Mmaduabuchukwu Okeke (son of Chief Godwin Okeke), who vowed never to allow the unlawfully impounded and kept truck in the GUO premises in Maza Maza, Lagos by the said Mmaduabuchukwu to go.
Accusing the son of the transport magnet of having arrogated the powers of the Nigeria Police Force and that of the court of law to himself, Mr. Idoko reiterated that all efforts he made to see the said Maduaburochukwu Okeke who is in charge of GUO business proved abortive as he have ignored his calls, including the calls of this reporter even while in his Maza Maza office.
Narrating his ordeal, in the hands of the Director of GUO groups, Uche Ezeanochie who is the driver of the truck said he was one of the senior drivers with the GUO but since Chief Godwin Okeke retired and handed over to his son (Maduaburochukwu), things fell apart with the transport company as one Abada who is at management cader allegedly manhandle drivers at will.
“I served GUO for over twenty-five years and I never had an accident.  But when the new management came on board, drivers started seeing hell, based on the way they are treating us, I decided to give up the job after reporting to the man who employed me. I later secured a job with Chido Cargo Logistics and on one of my trips to Lagos, having nothing at the back of my mind, I parked my track at the office of GUO at Maza Maza.
When I wanted to drive out on a fateful day, Maduaburochukwu, to my chagrin, through Abada ordered his Police personal attached to him to close the gate and never allow my truck out. When I enquired what was my offence, I was told that I  should go and do a proper handover of my former truck with GUO Motors and get cleared from one Mr. Chike  popularly known as Ogidi who is the manager in charge of trucks, that after that, they will release my present truck”; the driver stated.
In complying, with the instructions, it was gathered that the driver, on getting to Onitsha was asked to pay the sum of N25,000 for headlamps that got spoiled when he was GUO Motors, which he did but it is shocking that all the efforts put in search of peace were aborted as the said Mercedes Benz truck belonging to Chidio Cargo Logistics with registration number 680 YF is still under the unlawful custody of    Maduaburochukwu Okeke.
However, Chido Cargo Logistics through his Counsel has affirmed that they are demanding the immediate release of his truck and the accumulated damaged fee of over N10,000,000,including other damage(s)or the son of Chief Godwin Okeke will face prosecution.
