Anambra State House of Assembly Hails Obiano on International Conference Centre

Anambra State House of Assembly has extolled Governor Willie Obiano on the construction of of the International Convention Center of world-class standard, situated in Awka, the state’s capital.

Members of the House Committee on Housing and Urban Development gave this commendation on behalf of the House when they visited the Centre as part of its oversight responsibilities, in company of the state’s Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Architect Mike Okonkwo.

Speaking during the inspection visit, the Chairman of the Committee, Honourable Lawrence Ezeudu observed that the magnificent Center is of international standard and houses all the facilities and equipment necessary for international conventions.

He further hailed the Governor for keeping to his promise of completing and commissioning the Center before exiting office, following the Governor’s recent announcement that Center will be commissioned on March 9, which is only few weeks from today.

He also noted that the 10,000-capacity edifice has changed the landscape of Awka and will also generate more income to the state.

Touring the Committee round the facility, the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Architect Mike Okonkwo have structural explanation on the project and hinted that it is almost ninety percent completed, with a minimum sitting capacity of ten thousand persons.

While highlighting some of the benefits the Centre will accord the state and her citizens, the Commissioner further said that Governor Willie Obiano has written his name in the sands of time by building a place of civic pride for Ndi Anambra, which he noted, can facilitate and propel the development of other sectors of the state and its economy.

In their separate remarks, some members of the Committee, Hon. Emma Nwafor, Hon. Pete Ibida and Hon. Timothy Ifedioramma opined that history will be kind to Governor Willie Obiano for executing some major leagcy projects in the state, and for laying a solid foundation for the incoming administration in the state.
