First son of the late Premier of the Eastern Region, Dr. Michael Okpara, Nnawuihe Okpara has reportedly died in the United States of America where he had lived over the years.
Nnawuihe’s death, which was said to have sent shock waves down the the late Dr. Michael Okpara’s family, occurred when preparations for the burial of the remains of his mother and matriarch of the Okpara family, the late Lady Adanma Okpara, were in top gear.
Lady Okpara is slated to be buried in their country home, Umuegwu Okpuala in Ohuhu Clan, Umuahia North LGA of Abia State this Saturday, December 18.
Nnawuihe, a Houston, Texas, United States of America based Aeronautic Engineer, was said to have died some days ago following a brief illness.
“The deceased is a specialist in Heat Conversion and had worked with many airlines in the United States before his death,” an informed source said.
As the first son of the Okpara family, Nnawuihe was reported to be coordinating the arrangements for the burial of his mother, from the United States before his death.
Although it was not clear what ailment Nnawuihe suffered from before his death, sources said he had been battling with undisclosed health challenges for some time.
Born in 1948, Nnawuihe was reported to be an air officer in the Biafran Army and left Nigeria in 1972 to the United States for further studies.
He was said to be married with three children.
