A group has warned the police in Anambra state to stop extorting people, or face their wrath.

A piece of paper containing the threat was dropped close to the police headquarters at Amawbia.

The note reads, “We have noticed that some security operatives have started extorting our people in Biafra land through what they call stop and search. What happened some months ago will be child’s play if you don’t stop. This time, we’re going to storm that headquarters in Awka and it will not be funny. We’re warning you to stop punishing our people in Biafra land, otherwise, you all will regret it, including your ogas.”

Police spokesman Ikenga Tochukwu said the command had not seen such a note, but added, “If there is anything like that, we advise that those behind it to desist from such plans because it will not serve anyone any good,“ he said

Also, Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) said they had uncovered plans by people working for Nigerian politicians and the Department of State Services (DSS) to recruit 5000 youths for another security outfit outside the Eastern Security Network (ESN).

The group called on its members at home and in the diaspora to be wary of such plans.

In a statement by its Media and Publicity, Emma Powerful, IPOB said, “Our attention has been drawn to the laughable and disgraceful claims and appeals from those who are being used to sabotage Biafra restoration efforts of our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB leadership.”

Powerful referred to some unnamed persons who “are calling for launching of funds to create another ESN in Biafraland.

“We are calling on Biafrans both home and in the diaspora to be very wary of, and shun the planned fund-raising event.”
