Agroup, Independent Leaders Forum (ILF) has advised the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra state to discipline members that dumped the party before the Nov. 6 governorship election before readmitting them into the party.
The group also rejected attempt by some individuals in the party to form a Caretaker Committee to manage the affairs of the party in the state.
In a statement on Sunday signed by the President of the group, Obinna Okafor and made available to newsmen, the group said the resolutions were fall out of its zoom meeting held November 28, 2021.
The group further condemned plans by some party stakeholders to conduct Ward, LGA and State congress this month, describing the move as unreasonable and insensitive in view of the negative outcome of the guber poll.
The resolution partly reads, “We reject any attempt to form a Caretaker Committee to manage the affairs of PDP in Anambra state, as previous actions of such ended in chaos, divisions and consequently led to different court litigations.
“Such litigations will consequently foist the crisis of who and who produce the members of the committee, especially as regards to which of the leaders would produce the Chairman, Secretary and other important positions in the Executive.
“We recommend and advise that the Southeast Zonal Executive of our party take over the management of the party affairs in Anambra state and organise the Wards, LGAs and State congresses by February/March 2022.
“That all the defectors from the party should face the disciplinary committee with necessary sanctions meted out to such individuals before being readmitted into the party conditionally.
“We commend the outgoing State and National Executive of our great party, for their solid performance in managing the affairs of the party in the past 4years.”
While pledging continued contribution in rebuilding and restructuring the party, the group revealed its plans to sponsor vibrant and independent members with impeccable character and Integrity to vie for positions targeted at strengthening and injecting younger generations into the party executive at the wards, LGAs and State levels.
