In a release on Friday, Obi said: “As we come to the end of electioneering, I call on Anambra people to demonstrate their franchise by coming out en masse to vote. I also call on everyone directly or indirectly associated with this election to ensure it is free, fair and peaceful.”

Obi who described Anambrarians as brothers and sisters, reminded them that they did not have to kill and maim because of election saying: “Among our people and many cultures of the world, human life is sacred and must be treated as such.”

Further, Obi thanked IPOB for calling off the sit-at-home they earlier declared. He also called on the government to release and dialogue with Nnamdi Kanu and other agitators as expected in a democracy.

On the imperative of electing the best person for the Job, Obi said: “We see how a state that was truly the ‘Light of the Nation’, once referenced as the best in terms of virtually all developmental index, has gone back to its previous notoriety as ‘Home for All’ and is once again referenced for all the bad reasons. If we continue on this trajectory, it will sound the final death knell for our dear state.”

Obi therefore called on the people of the state to vote for a candidate with character, competence; a candidate that would be prudent in the management of resources and development oriented by expressing willingness to invest in critical areas of education, fighting poverty, improving the health sector, among others.

Obi cautioned against electing a 21st century emperor that would see himself as a king and not a servant.
