The candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) for the Nov. 6 governorship election in Anambra state, Sen. Ifeanyi Ubah, has expressed optimism that he would be declared winner of the poll.
Ubah stated this in Abuja shortly after he was awarded Bachelor of Law degree at the Baze University.
The Senator who is currently representing Anambra South Senatorial District at the National Assembly, said the knowledge he acquired as a law graduate would assist him to offer quality governance as the state’s helmsman.
He said he was able to combine his academic works and legislative activities because he set his agenda and always ensure that his priorities were always right.
He described as propaganda and cheap politics, the comments by some co-contesters in the governorship election who were disparaging him based on his educational qualification.
He said, “Politics come with a lot of things and there is cheap propaganda in all what they are saying.
“However, the end justifies the means. Today here I am and everyone knows that my detractors were not speaking the truth about my educational qualification.
“In any case, I didn’t allow their talks to distract me. I remain focused always. I don’t listen to or react to reckless talks that won’t add value to my life. I move on
“I am a lover of knowledge and I will continue to do everything possible to acquire more certificates. The law degree, for instance, would assist me more as governor of Anambra State.
“I am the leading contender in the November 6 governorship election and I believe that by 7pm that day, you will be glad that I will be announced as the next governor of Anambra state.”
Ubah called on the Federal Government to improve on the budget for the education sector even as he demanded adequate financial support and other forms of assistance for the private institutions to encourage their proprietors.
