In a statement attributed to the the INEC National Chairman , Prof Mahmood Yakubu, the commission had said due to the destruction of its property in Anambra State by gunmen , it would use its zonal stores in Owerri to organize movement of nonsensitive materials for the Anambra governorship election.

But in a release on Thursday in Awka by the National Coordinator of APGA Media Warriors, Chinedu Obigwe, the party said to do so meant the electroral body had been compromised.

He called on the electoral umpire to rescind the decision or be ready for a mass protest and vote of no confidence to be passed against it.

Obigwe argued that the INEC had no justification to to keep materials for Anambra election in Imo State to be distributed from Owerri.

He said, “Imo State is not even secure and the insecurity problem in that state will definitely affect the movement of the materials on election day.

“Nothing stops INEC from storing the materials in Asaba, Delta State that is very close to Anambra.

“Another thing is that with the utterances of Governor Hope Uzodimma that the All Progressives Congress will deploy ‘seen and unseen hands’ to win the November poll, INEC’s decision to keep materials for the election in Imo State is a proof that it’s part of the plot to rig the election.

“The leadership of INEC cannot feign ignorance of APC’s boast to rig the November 6th election and telling the people of Anambra that they will distribute materials meant for the election from Owerri is annoying and unacceptable.

“The best thing for INEC to do is to rescind that decision because doing that will make the people of the state to have confidence in them.

He added,” Already the people of Anambra State are spoiling for war because of this ill-conceived decision of INEC.

“If INEC fails to rescind their decision, Anambra people will embark on a mass protest and pass vote of no confidence against it. A stitch in time saves nine.”
