The Youth leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, Enugu State, Mr. Joshua Mamah has said that the impeachment of former caretaker committee chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye, followed due process and that those who moved for his impeachment were not coerced to do so neither were they induced by anybody or group.
Last week, 42 members of the state executive committee, SEC, of the party passed vote of no confidence on Nwoye and subsequently removed him as the state caretaker committee chairman, an exercise which Nwoye described as laughable.
Subsequently, youths and women wings of the party loyal to the embattled chairman passed vote of confidence on Nwoye and accused the SEC members, especially, the youth leader, Mamah, of being paid by some chieftains of the party to remove Nwoye.
Mamah in a release made available to journalists in Enugu Tuesday, said Nwoye was unanimously impeached because of gross abuse of office and electoral malpractices.
The youth leader pointed out that, among other things, Nwoye printed fake result sheets during the just concluded ward congress as well as inaugurated an 81 year old man as a youth leader.
Mamah enumerated Nwoye’s sins that informed his removal in this order.
” Ben Nwoye printed FAKE ward congress result sheets at a BUSINESS CENTER and passed them off as authentic result sheets to his followers. This is an illegal act that should warrant his expulsion from the party and criminal prosecution.
“He illegally inaugurated an 81 year old ward ex-officio member as the state youth leader. And he also illegally inaugurated some other none SEC or SWC members as members after he was already impeached, in his living room.
“Ben Nwoye has never delivered even his polling unit in any election.
“He has used blackmail, lies and brainwashing technics to hold the party hostage for his paymasters over the years.
“The few so-called women and youth leaders that he gathered to pass a vote of confidence on him today are not authentic, are not even SEC members so their actions are of no consequence whatsoever except as the desperate act of a drowning man and his few remaining followers.”
To prove that he and his group were not induced or biased in their action, Joshua fumed and asked rhetoric questions thus:
“Which under duress, I Joshua Mamah, I signed column number four not under duress. I was not induced in any form. Nobody gave me a dime, I satisfied my conscience. What is flying is that I was given money. What stupid money is everything about money? My conscience first and nobody gave me a dime. Nobody signed the impeachment and subsequent removal of Dr Ben Nwoye as the state Caretaker Committee Chairman under duress.
“All the people gossip around him too are frustrated because they felt it is the type of crisis he had with Okey Ogbodo without following due process. I am a due process person, we followed due process to elect nobody was induced. We have a forum already talking about how to move forward. This is a rescue team which. Who arrested who,?” he asks.
