Peace means a thousand things to a thousand men in a thousand
different times and circumstances.This makes peace a relative term
To a mother, peace means the return of her husband and children after
a hard day’s work, to a responsible father,peace means making two ends
meet, to a struggling trader, peace means being able to sell his/her wares
To the civil servant who lives from one credit alert to the other,peace means
the safe arrival of the months end; to a single lady who is disregarded and

To a childless woman who has to put up with pity and insensitivity,peace
means her own bundle of joy, to the security men on the alert, peace means
an uneventful day, to the greedy politician who spends most of his time
scheming, peace means one more shady deal; to the poorest of the poor,
who lives from hand to mouth, peace means one square meal; to the
devastated widow who lost her husband during the crisis, peace means
revenge on the perpetrators; to the disillusioned youths who have witness
and partake in bloodshed and corruption, peace means a proud flesh and
their own piece of the nation’s cake.To the teacher, peace means having a
class of cooperating students and having a good pay check at the end.To a student
peace means having good results; to the health worker on duty in the causalty ward,
peace means a bloodless and anxiety free shift.To all of these people under different
circumstances, peace means a solution to their most pressing problem.
If one man’s peace can be another man’s pain, will it qualify as peace? If one man’s
peace excludes other men, should it be named peace? Have we lost the meaning of
peace or have we very tiny and selfish pieces of peace?For one thing, peace should
not be in pieces and neither should it have any component of selfishness in it.
True peace is to be harmony with one’s maker.It means being true to whom
you really are, to be at the center of your Maker’s will, to be the true design of
His intention Peace is a flow in harmony with the great one regardless of
circumstances surrounding you and the fears and doubts within.Peace is a
product of being who you should be, doing right at all times.With this, peace
can be achieved within you without depending on people and times and circumstances
or favourable conditions.You can be content at rest, Serene without stepping out of your
house, and for you , peace will no longer be a relative term, but a gift you possess all the
time.
