Renewed hostilities between Iharev and Kparev communities at Mu near the Air Force Base, Makurdi, Wednesday claimed one life.
Benue state Police Commissioner, Mohammed Mukadas, Thursday told newsmen at the command’s headquarters that he was surprised over renewed attacks in the area after several peace initiatives had been made.
He said four persons have been arrested in connection with the incident and assured that the command would, in collaboration with the state government, ensure the return of permanent peace in the area.
Mukadas advised the two communities to embrace peace, stressing that those arrested would face full wrath of the law.
It would be recalled that Governor Samuel Ortom had in the past visited the crisis area to assess damages after which he constituted a committee to. Investigate and submit a report but the problem of indigenes and settlers has persisted.
Meanwhile, the area has been deserted following threats of further hostilities.
