NGO Declares War Against Gender Based Violence In Bauchi

A Non-Governmental Organization in Nigeria called Value Royale International Initiative has declared war against gender based violence in Bauchi state.

This declaration came at a sensitization and advocacy campaign on violence against women and children held in Gamawa Local Government Area of Bauchi state in the Northern part of Nigeria.

The main reason of the advocacy campaign is because of the significant increase in the number of rape cases in the community however it also came inline with the aims and missions of the organization to fight, advocate, sensitize and enlighten women and children against gender based violence and other related sexual assault cases.

However, the program was indoor session and it was attended by the Coalition of women organizations, traditional rulers, religious leaders, community opinion leaders, youth and students associations, security agencies, community based organizations, local media stations, volunteer lawyers, medical personnel among many others.

While the session was going on lots of vital issues pertaining gender based violence were vividly discussed and some possible actions and remedies have also been suggested by the professionals of the related topic of discussion.

During the session which was chaired by the Deputy President of the organization (Amb. Kassim A. Gamawa), the President and founder of the organization Comrade Muhammad Salees Gamawa has promised that the organization will help offer a free legal service to the victims and will also ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book and punish accordingly without fear or favour.

“We noted all the pending and abandon rape cases carelessly mishandled by the authorities, we will push and ensure every case is treated justly in order to serve as a deterrent to others”. Salees said.
