Lawyer Carpets Politicians For Developing The Nag For Disobedience Of Court Orders

A legal practitioner in Onitsha, Anambra state, Chief Clifford Iloegbune Okoye has expressed concern over the impunity with which politicians in the country have developed the nag for disobedience of court orders.

Speaking to newsmen at his law chambers, Okoye who is also a former chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Aguata branch, said he was blaming the judiciary and not the legal professionals for abandoning their duties.

According to Okoye, “under normal circumstances, no politician will disobey court orders and go scot free and that is why we are happy that the judicial autonomy has come on stream”.

Apparently defending the lawyers from having hands in the flagrant disobedience of court orders, as part of the manipulations of the executive arm of the government, Okoye contended that NBA is an association of lawyers and not an opposition group, adding, “we fight to correct bad policies of government We are for advancement of good governance”.

“We expected life to be better in democratic era but unfortunately, the common man is being suffocated. The president we have now is an old man and is battling with sickness of an old age. Our society is so problematic that we need a young brain”.
