The District Head of Lame Sarkin Yakin Bauchi Alhaji Aliyu Yakubu Lame and District Head of Toro Katukan Bauchi Alhaji Umar Adamu Toro in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State has cautioned their subjects against unnecessary felling down of trees in their domain and warned them against Fulani herdsmen and farmers clashes in their domains.
The District Heads stated this while speaking with reporters in their Palaces separately on environmental degradation and illegal felling of trees. they said the major problems bedeviled the felling of trees is the involvement of officials saddled with the responsibility of protecting the trees in the act, and advised the authorities to punish anybody found felling the trees without fear or favor to serve as a discipline to all.
Traditional rulers commended Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir and the Emir of Bauchi for taking bold steps order to address the problems of environmental degradation, indiscriminate felling of trees and their deteriorating effects on the environment.
The duo rulers said “The aimed at protecting our environment and making it conducive for human habitation, agricultural practices and other socio-economic activities”.
On the Fulani Herders and Farmers Clash Sarkin Yaqin Bauchi and Katukan Bauchi said they settle dozens of such disputes daily in their palaces especially now during dry season and explained that with fair judgement and brotherhood they were able to solve most of the problems to the satisfaction of both the complainant and the accused.
District Head of Lame said “ presently I am battling with such types of case that linger in the palace for over 42 years but with the help of Allah we are getting closer to end the fracas between the parties.
He said the selfishness, greed are the major causes of the disputes because you can only own a property if you purchase it, or someone gives you or if you inherite it from your fathers when we study the complaint we will resolve it towards the way someone acquired the property.
District Head of Toro said “I resolved the disputes through brotherhood and understanding and the parties will be happy and continue to live in harmony with one another.
He advised people to always fear Allah and be just to their brotherhood by always being their brothers keeper.
