The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Benue state clinched all the 23 chairmanship positions in the local government elections held across the state yesterday.
Announcing the result today at the headquarters of the Benue state independent electoral commission, BSIEc, its chairman, Mr Tersoo Loko, said voting took place at the 3,691 polling units across the state.
Look also said the PDP cleared all the 276 councilor ship seats in the state.
While assuring that details of the results would be made available to journalists later, he said the elected chairmen and councilors would given their certificates of return tomorrow. Monday at the organization’s headquarters.
Eyewitness gathered that in some local governments, APGA competed with the PDP but could not win any seat.
The highest number of votes polled in the election went to Mr Steve Ayua of the PDP who got over 72,000 votes in Ukum local government.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, had earlier withdrawn from the elections, so, no record of its participation was contained in the results declared by the chairman.
