Armed Herdsmen Kill Three, Injure Others in A Fresh Benue Attack

Armed militia suspected to be herdsmen has killed three locals in a fresh attacked on a village in Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State.

Newsmen gathered that the militia had invaded Waya village near Jato Aka, Kwande LGA, of State in the early hours of Wednesday killing innocent villagers a, a situation which also left many others injured.

The Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), Catherine Anene confirmed the incident saying three corpses of the victims have already been recovered.

Anene in a phone message explained that on the “4th of March, 2020, at about 1000hrs, unknown gun men suspected to be herders invaded Moon district, Kwande Local Government Area and shot sporadically at persons sited at the river bank.

According to her, during investigation, one male and two female corpses were recovered.

Anene said more police teams have been deployed to the area to restore peace and order while investigation is still in progress.

Recall that state Governor Samuel Ortom had raised an alarm that herdsmen had invaded some Benue communities with over 5000 cows.

He had appealed to the federal government to reinforce security agencies working in the state to enable them tackle the challenges and nip it in the bud.
