Owerri, the capital city of Imo state was agog yesterday the 26th day of November, 2019 as the Imo state chapter of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) Inaugurated her 3rd Assembly state and Local government officials.
The event which took place at the Imo state Entertainment Academy Hall in Owerri had the 305 newly elected ward coordinators of YAN, 27 Local government YAN speakers, 3 Zonal YAN ambassadors nanely: Amb. Jeff Unamma(Orlu), Amb.Chris Ezeala (Okigwe), Amb. Frederick NWOHA (Owerri), state youth ambassador-elect; Amb. King C. King and the national Patron of YAN; Ugwumba Uche Nwosu ably represented by National speaker of YAN; Rt.Hon. Godstime Chukwubuikem Samuel in attendance.
In the ceremony, Rt.Hon. Rowland Izuogu from Okigwe LGA was inaugurated as YAN state speaker, Rt.Hon. Prince Cres Ugo from Ahiazu Mbaise as State deputy speaker, Hon. Nnamdi Obioha from Orsu LGA as state majority leader, Hon. Bethel Iwuoha from Mbaitoli LGA as Chief Whip, Hon. Uwadokam Charles from Obowo as deputy majority leader, Hon. Maxwell Ibe from Oguta as deputy whip. Others are Hon. Ifeoma Efficacy Ibekwe of Orlu LGA as State Minority leader, Hon. Ebere Nwokeji from Ideato south as state deputy minority leader.
Local government speakers inaugurated were Hon.Nzeh Franklin (Owerri North), Hon. Duruike Oscar (Isiala mbano), Hon.Olaedo Gold (Nwangele), Hon. Kingsley K.Chukwuonye (Ideato north), Hon. Benjamin Nzechukwu (Ikeduru), Hon. Matthew Ogu (Nkwerre), Comr. Postmu Osuji (Owerri West), Hon. Pat Ekwereike (Isu), Hon. Nwaeze Gideon Ikechukwu (Ohaji Egbema), Rev. Emma Unaegbu (Ezinihitte Mbaise), Hon. Akunna Uzochi (Oru west), Hon. Uba Kingsley (Owerri minicipal), Hon. Oguzo Emeka Vincent (Ihitte uboma), Comr. Paschal Ogbonna as state clerk, Comr. Cassandra Anyanwu as state deputy clerk amongst others.
Those awarded were Amb. (Dr) Ikenna Aniche (Nkenkenyi Izuogu) as YAN state Patron, Hon. Clifford Orjiakor as State BOT chairman, Hon.Comr. Nwaeji Ekene (Akusinachi) as a patron & BOT secretary of YAN, Chief Duru Mike Ejiogu (Akaekpuchi onwa Anara) as YAN Patron, Okigwe, Chief Dan Chike Ogu (Hamza) as BOT Chairman of YAN, Okigwe, Hon.(Pst) Henrietta Jacobs as State Matron.
Delivering his acceptance speech, Amb. Aniche promised to provide a good means of mobility for the Imo YAN officials, use his contact and wealth of experience to make Imo YAN the envy of all youth groups in Nigeria.
Imo YAN as at today is the apex youth parliamentary body in the state run by vibrant, courageous and pragmatic youths drawn from the 305 wards in Imo state.
