Information available to 247ureports.com indicate all is indeed not well with the office of the vice president and the office of the president. This is as new information suggests president Buhari and his associates, often referred to as cabals may be out on a steamy revenge mission against Vice President Yemi Osinbajo over actions he took during the period the President was ill and bedridden in London.

The recent rejig of the office of the vice president – including the sack of 35 aides on 6 November 2019, and the drastic reduction of the duties assigned to the office are pointers to the long pent up anger against the Vice President. The cabal cautiously held its actions against the Vice President until the electioneering period, and the associated electoral tribunal matters, were done with.

It is expected the cabal will issue a query against the vice president, in the coming weeks, of which will result in a ‘jankara’ financial probe of monies that were supposedly misappropriated during the period Buhari was sick and out of the country.

Nonetheless, newly revealed information indicates the vice president may have sought permission to dissolve the federal executive council during the period Buhari was away in London. The permission to dissolve the federal executive council, according to our source in the presidency, unsettled nerves within the cabal.

In addition, the cabals were particularly peeved by two executive decisions taken during the said period.

The swearing in of Justice Walter Samuel Nkanu Onnoghen as Chief Judge of Nigeria on 7 March 2017 [of which President Muhammadu Buhari later suspended him on 26 January 2019 and appointed Tanko Ibrahim as acting Chief Justice of Nigeria.] Also, the sacking of the then DSS boss, Malam Daura on August 7, 2018 – and replacing him with a southerner, Matthew B. Seiyefa [of which on 13 September 2018, Buhari replaced Seiyefa with Yusuf Magaji Bichi].

As a caveat, the vice president had travelled to London to pay a closed door visit to President Buhari. During the visit, our usually reliable source revealed the Vice President held official discussions on sensitive national matters and also sought the President’s accent on some of the more pressing national issues.

It is recalled President Buhari, prior to embarking on the London trip, gave Vice President all the necessary authority to act as the president. President Buhari handed over to Vice President Osinbajo. Osinbajo was the acting President.

However with the prolonged stay in London, and the uncertainty surrounding the health status of the president, changed the power equation within presidency.

Many within the political and administrative circles were uncertain of what was on the offing. Some began nursing the fear the worst may have happened. There was pitch darkness as to the true picture of Buhari’s health. The cloud of secrecy appeared impenetrable.

Adding gravitas to the sense of uncertainty was pronouncements my heavyweight political commentators announcing the death of President Buhari. Others announced the incapacitation of Buhari. They claimed Buhari may be unable to continue as the President of Nigeria when he recovers from his ailment. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo even opined President Buhari had assured him he (Buhari) will resign as soon as he returns.

It was under this cloud of uncertainty coupled with the rumored unwillingness for the federal executive council (FEC) to cooperate with the vice president – that occasioned the vice president’s actions. It led him to the president to make the sensitive request of dissolving the cabinet to enable him (Osinbajo) pilot the affairs of the country more efficiently.

It is not certain what response President Buhari gave to the vice president but the vice president’s decision to not dissolve the cabinet suggests the president’s response may have been in the negative.

Upon Buhari’s return, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria presented the President with an unpleasant financial report of what transpired while he was gone. The report is said to indict the Vice President heavily. The CBN Governor presented documentary evidence. A shocked Buhari was said to call the attention of Chief Bola Tinubu to the CBN report. Tinubu in the company of pioneer chairman of Action Congress, Akande met with the President at the presidential villa where Buhari presented the report along with the documentation.  Akande who was also shocked requested for time (a week) to properly assimilate the information. But Tinubu interjected stating that he was not surprised.

Unconfirmed but reliable sources placed the misappropriated fund at N90billion.

The cabal, working in tandem, with the CBN Governor has launched a latent investigation into the alleged misappropriation with the sole intention to pave the way for the eventual removal of the vice president from office, and potentially out of the race for president in 2023.

247ureports.com contacted the vice president’s office, they denied the vice president ever made such request to dissolve the FEC.
